The first Hanwell Hootie took place on Saturday 6th April 2013 in the west London suburb of Hanwell W7. The day kicked off with the unveiling of a plaque located by the art-deco Hanwell clock tower to honour Jim Marshall OBE, Founder and Chairman of Marshall Amplification plc and “The Father of Loud”. A crowd of over six hundred people descended under the clock tower to view the plaque unveiling by Brian Poole of The Tremeloes.
The 2013 Hootie showcased 13 bands in 3 ‘official’ pubs, but such was the enthusiasm for more music that the ‘Hootie Fringe’ was introduced and every bar or pub in Hanwell was ultimately involved!
The success of the Hootie has seen year on year growth since its inception and in 2016 it was nominated for the UK Festivals Awards in the categories of Medium Sized Festival and Best Metropolitan Festival. In 2017 we will have over 85 bands in 14 venues – it’s going to be a great day! May 6th – make sure it is in your diary.
