The first time I picked up a guitar was immediately after discovering John Mayer, thanks to my older brother, but it wasn’t until my first trip to the USA that I began songwriting. I spent the summer working on a ranch in upstate New York, where I fell in love with country music. Artists such as Miranda Lambert and The Band Perry. Something about the genre was so inspiring to me that upon returning to the UK, I wrote my first song and began performing at open mics several times a week when I should have been studying. I’d describe my sound as a blend of pop energy and country storytelling. People often assume that I studied music, but in fact I spent three years studying to be a vet. I realised it wasn’t for me and graduated with zoology instead. I still love animals though, which will never change!
